On December 22, 2024, at 10:06 AM local time, a Eurocopter EC135 P2+ (registration TC-HYD) operated by the Turkish Ministry of Health collided with a hospital tower during takeoff in heavy fog. The crash occurred at the Mugla Training and Research Hospital and claimed the lives of all four crew members on board.

The helicopter had been scheduled to depart the previous evening but was grounded due to adverse weather conditions. On the morning of the accident, the crew—Chief Pilot Tamer Gönül, Copilot Bayram Çiçek, Dr. Cengiz Coscun, and ATT Nurse Selçuk Soykan—proceeded with a rescue mission to Antalya despite dense fog in the area.

Video footage of the takeoff shows the crew performing a Category A maneuver, climbing and reversing in an attempt to navigate through the poor visibility. Tragically, the helicopter’s tail section and rotor blades struck the hospital building, causing the aircraft to break apart and crash to the ground. All four crew members died on impact. Fortunately, no post-crash fire occurred.
